Bob's Discount Furniture Selects Descartes

Furniture retailer to enhance customer service with on-time delivery

WATERLOO, ONTARIO, October 1, 2002 — The Descartes Systems Group Inc., (Nasdaq:DSGX), (TSX:DSG), a trusted provider of logistics solutions, today announced that Bob’s Discount Furniture, a growing furniture retailer in the northeastern United States, has selected the Descartes Routing and SchedulingTM product, Fleetwise ReservationsTM, to enhance customer service with accurate, on-time home delivery.

Like many companies in the competitive retail industry, Bob’s Discount Furniture’s top priority is customer service. Keeping delivery and distribution costs to a minimum while maintaining superior customer service is critical to ensuring satisfied customers and repeat business. Bob’s Discount Furniture, which manages over 700 delivery requests a day from its 17 stores, will use Fleetwise Reservations to prioritize and rationalize customer requests, determine optimal delivery schedules and ultimately confirm shipping windows for customers at the point-of-sale.

With Fleetwise Reservations, Bob’s Discount Furniture will have one central view of bookings enabling the assignment of driver resources quickly and efficiently. The solution’s unique web-based system will update the company’s delivery information with every transaction enabling sales representatives to provide delivery commitments at point-of-sale while ensuring the optimal use of the company’s 50-plus truck fleet.

Bob’s Discount Furniture was first introduced to the Descartes Fleetwise solution at Descartes Directions, a forum bringing customers together to share first-hand experiences of Descartes solutions.
