AESDirect Migration Deadlines Are on the Horizon

As part of the single window initiative, the US Census Bureau’s AESDirect Portal will migrate to US Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) Portal. Integrating AESDirect into AES/ACE will eliminate the US government’s need to maintain two data collection systems for exports.  The migration is scheduled to begin as early as Fall 2015 and will impact those who rely on AESDirect.

Customers currently using Descartes’ export compliance filing solutions will not be impacted. Descartes’ platform has been tested and is successfully processing AES filings through ACE today.

For AESDirect users, this migration presents an opportunity to review current AES compliance processes.  Consider how this change will affect your business and what options you can explore to remain in compliance while improving operations with broader capabilities and increased automation.

Many export compliance officers across the trade are likely asking:

  • How will this transition potentially impact current internal procedures?

  • How long will the migration take?

  • Is there a solution I can take advantage of today vs. face potential uncertainty and a last minute rush?

  • What will CBP’s new system do and not do?

  • Is there a way I can increase operational productivity with more automation and other capabilities that the CBP ACE Portal will not offer such as data validation, reporting and Denied Party Screening (DPS)?

We can help. The Descartes AES™ service is a comprehensive AES filing solution for exporters, authorized agents, and freight forwarders of all sizes. Easily file compliant Electronic Export Information (EEI) directly to CBP’s ACE via our fully-certified, web-based interface. You can manage more shipments with less overhead by taking advantage of automation, data validation, enhanced reporting, and Denied Party Screening (DPS) capabilities that the proposed CBP ACE Portal will not offer.

Descartes is the nation’s largest AES filer. With our solutions your export operations can benefit from:

  • A proven and certified communication link to CBP
  • Robust end-to-end capabilities for export compliance
  • Real-time validation and checking without the wait
  • No certification required

*Please note that the announced AESDirect migration to CBP’s ACE Portal is an initiative separate from the April 2014 reengineering and migration of AES into the ACE trade processing system to enable the electronic filing of export information and ocean manifest information directly to CBP. All users of Descartes’ commercial filing applications for export compliance were seamlessly transitioned last year.
