James Co., a leading freight forwarder and customs house broker, is using Descartes' custom house broker solution to ensure compliance with the March 31, 2016 U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) deadline for mandatory use of the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) for certain entry types.
ACE is the U.S. government's single window to trade that enables businesses to better communicate to CBP and Partner Government Agencies (PGAs) through a centralized platform. CBP announced that select entries and entry summaries through ACE are required beginning March 31, 2016. Specifically, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) for Lacey Act compliance and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) data associated with the mandated ACE entry filings are required by the March 31, 2016 deadline.
