Descartes has acquired Oz Development, Inc. (“Oz”), a leading US-based provider of application integration solutions that help small-to-medium sized businesses (“SMBs”) automate a number of logistics and supply chain processes.
Descartes’ strategy is focused on growing and operating the most complete and interoperable global Logistics Technology Platform. Descartes’ Logistics Technology Platform uniquely combines the Global Logistics Network (GLN), a wide range of modular and interoperable logistics applications and the largest community of logistics-intensive companies in the world. The acquisition advances Descartes’ strategic objective to strengthen its global presence and leadership position by:
- Extending the reach of Descartes’ network - including greater penetration with key e-commerce parcel delivery systems;
- Connecting Descartes applications to leading SMB systems (ERP, Accounting, CRM, e-commerce and supply chain) and providing standardized interface adaptors to support common e-commerce fulfilment processes; and
- Adding a large SMB community of nearly 7,000 end customers.
Extending Descartes’ Global Logistics Network
Descartes’ Global Logistics Network (GLN) is the foundation on which the applications and community are built. The GLN provides community members the flexibility to easily connect and collaborate with global trading partners. The Oz acquisition will extend Descartes’ network-based services with greater penetration into key e-commerce parcel delivery systems, such as UPS.
Enhancing Descartes’ offering of logistics management applications
Descartes’ product strategy is focused on expanding its logistics application functional footprint to provide its customers with the most comprehensive logistics management solutions in the industry. Oz has been building its community and solutions for over 10 years. The acquisition will help connect Descartes applications to leading SMB systems (ERP, Accounting, CRM, e-commerce and supply chain) and provide standardized interface adaptors to support common e-commerce fulfilment processes.
Growing Descartes’ global multimodal logistics community
Descartes’ logistics community is the largest multimodal network of logistics intensive companies in the world, with parties using its cloud-based services in over 160 countries. Descartes’ mission is to create the world’s most comprehensive networked logistics community. Oz adds a large SMB customer base of nearly 7,000 end customers and strengthens Descartes’ partner relationships with key SMB players, such as NetSuite.
For over 10 years, Oz has been helping a growing SMB community connect to, and integrate with, leading ERP, CRM, e-commerce and supply chain platforms. Oz’s strong partnerships with key SMB channels, such as UPS and NetSuite, have helped it build this community to include nearly 7,000 end customers. Oz’s solutions address a number of pain points for e-commerce shippers by automating logistics and supply chain processes, including order fulfilment, inventory management/scanning, and shipping.
The acquisition makes Oz’s customers members of the world’s premier global logistics community – The Global Logistics Network – facilitating improved performance and productivity of logistics operations around the world. As part of this community Oz’s customers will have access to additional solutions via Descartes’ Logistics Technology Platform to improve rate management, dock appointment scheduling, transportation management, routing and scheduling, and in-transit inventory visibility.
