It was a wonderful three days at Descartes Evolution 2019. Customers had the opportunity to network, learn and collaborate with peers as well as industry experts. In addition, Descartes and our sponsor/partner community showcased technological advancements to enhance the overall customer experience. Here is a brief overview of the Private/Dedicated Fleet track at Evolution.

Customers had the opportunity to engage in product training on the latest versions of our Routing Mobile and Telematics solutions. These sessions were filled with great interaction between customers and Descartes’ product and implementation teams learning about the solutions. The training sessions covered: Descartes wGLN™, optimization with Descartes Route Planner™, Descartes Route Planner™ On-demand and Descartes WinRoute™, Descartes Perform™ for Food, dispatching with Descartes Route Planner and Descartes Route Planner On-demand, Descartes Telematics and Compliance™ and advanced courses on Descartes Route Planner and the Descartes wGLN.  The End-to-end Vision session reviewed the upcoming customer case studies/panels and discussed how leveraging products to work together can help to reduce cost, increase productivity and enhance the customer experience.

Some of the most impactful sessions were when our customers took center stage in the form of case study presentations and panel discussions. Best Buy, Stericycle/Shred-it and Ferrellgas led a panel discussing how they leverage daily route optimization to increase fleet and mobile resource productivity and reduce cost. Richards Building Supply and WESCO shared how monitoring daily route execution, leveraging real-time location information and status updates and being proactive in exception management can significantly enhance both on-road performance and customer experience.

MedSpeed discussed the process of selecting its supply chain solutions and how implementing Descartes Transportation Manager™ and Descartes Route Planner integrated with its in-house systems helped to increase operational visibility and improve the driver experience.

BC Sands discussed how implementing Descartes Route Planner and Descartes Mobile™ provided the company with a vast amount of data and, by leveraging this data, they were able to identify additional areas to improve operational efficiencies. Using the data to communicate internally and externally to customers, BC Sands reduced process times and provided their customer with a better experience, ultimately securing repeat business.

There was a great amount of interest in our Best Practice for Telematics and 2nd Annual Fleet Management Benchmark Survey sessions.  The telematics session covered how companies are using telematics to improve driver performance, manage their assets and comply with regulations. The Fleet Benchmark Survey session provided an overview of how organizations are leveraging technology to help differentiate themselves to enhance customer experience, drive growth and improve their bottom line.

Customers also had the opportunity to understand what the future would look like with Routing, Mobile and Telematics in our Roadmap sessions. Customers and product managers collaborated and discussed the latest features and current roadmaps for the next several years.

It was an informative and enjoyable opportunity to learn from each other over the three days of the event!
