HONG KONG, CHINA and WATERLOO, ON, September 30, 2002 — The Descartes Systems Group Inc., (Nasdaq:DSGX), (TSX:DSG), a trusted provider of logistics solutions, today announced that Hecny Group, one of Hong Kong’s most established freight forwarding companies, has selected Descartes 20/20 Visibility TM to enhance customer value with the real-time monitoring of shipments worldwide. Hecny Group will deploy 20/20 Visibility through the Descartes 20/20 Accelerator TM offering – an accelerated adoption program for supply chain network visibility.

A top freight forwarder in the Asia Pacific region, Hecny Group moves in excess of 1.5 million tons of freight a year across multiple modes of transportation, such as ocean and air. With 20/20 Visibility the company will now have real-time insight into the status of these shipments, both at-rest and in-motion, enabling Hecny Group total transparency over the movement of its customers' cargo.

“Descartes' proven skills and experience in global logistics made them the obvious choice,” remarked Arnold Lee, vice president of Hecny Group. “Now with line-item visibility provided through 20/20 Visibility we will stay informed about shipments in transit and ultimately provide peace of mind to our customers.”

Among one of the first freight forwarders in the Asia Pacific region to embrace visibility technology, Hecny will be implementing this system in conjunction with their USA partner Global Link Logistics, the leading NVOCC (Non Vessel Operating Common Carrier) in moving furniture from Asia to the USA. “As our clients imports from Asia grow, so does the importance of information,” explained Chad Rosenberg, chief executive officer of Global Link Logistics. “Having real-time access to shipment visibility will help our clients manage inventory control, and improve the overall efficiency of their company, which is our ultimate goal.”

“Global logistics technology that enhances customer relationships, like 20/20 Visibility, continues to play a key role in driving competitive advantage for leading third-party logistics providers and freight forwarders like Hecny,” said Manuel Pietra, Descartes’ co-chief executive officer and president. “Incorporating total supply chain visibility into their technology-rich operations will enable Hecny to provide superior customer value with a complete picture of shipment information as it happens.”

Descartes 20/20 Visibility and the Descartes 20/20 Accelerator program are the product and activation process for the Descartes Global Visibility and Inventory Control TM solution. This solution is layered on top of the Descartes Global Logistics Services Network TM (GLSN) - a global infrastructure for trading partner connectivity to improve message reliability and time-to-market.
