Waterloo, Ontario - Wednesday, March 29, 2000, 8:28 AM EST The Descartes Systems Group Inc. (NASDAQ:DSGX), (TSE:DSG), a leading provider of business-to-business e-commerce solutions, and TNT Post Group N.V. (TPG), the global provider of mail, express and logistics services, today announced a key strategic alliance to support TNT's recently announced @TNT service. TNT will use Descartes' e-fulfillment software solution to uniquely position TNT as the European leader in providing global fulfillment services for the B2B e-commerce market. This initiative follows on TNT Logistics' adoption of Descartes' e-Frame B2B connectivity solution in September 1999.

TNT Post Group announced that its new global e-fulfillment service, under the working title @TNT, aims to capture 25% of outsourced B2B European e-fulfillment. With speed-to-market and scalability as high priorities for its customers, the @TNT service will use Descartes' e-fulfillment solution to rapidly integrate the logistics and distribution systems of its customers, shippers and freight forwarders to orchestrate and execute domestic, cross-border and global e-fulfillment orders. Descartes' solution will also enable real-time visibility and performance monitoring on the inbound and outbound transactions involving the movement of goods and events in the fulfillment network for all users of the @TNT solution.

The @TNT service will leverage TNT's proven logistics and distribution capabilities and its strong global infrastructure to provide a single point of control for the entire e-transaction, including order management, payment processing, warehousing, transportation and delivery, and post-transaction management (returns, repairs, and customer service).

"Successful e-fulfillment is much more than warehouses and delivery capability," said Ad Scheepbouwer, Chairman and CEO at TPG. "It is the skilled design, implementation and orchestration of every step in the demand chain. @TNT capitalizes on our proven expertise - intelligently facilitating the movement of goods, information and payments - to the benefit of our customers doing business electronically."

"It is no secret that our industry is ideally placed to benefit from the e-commerce boom," Scheepbouwer continued. "TNT, as the European-based leader in mail, express and logistics, is already fulfilling e-companies' distribution and logistics needs. Now, with @TNT and our technology alliances, including Descartes' e-fulfillment software, we are able to provide a full, flexible and integrated service that will meet current and future e-commerce demands."

"The TNT partnership aligns well with Descartes' focus on the B2B e-commerce marketplace and we are pleased to have our e-fulfillment software as an integral part of the @TNT initiative," said Peter Schwartz, Chairman and CEO at Descartes. "We are looking forward to the launch of @TNT later this year and to its subsequent success."

TPG will kick off its pilot program in May with its first customer, the Italian motorbike manufacturer Aprilia. Full commercial roll-out will be implemented later in the year focusing on targeted industries such as automotive, electronics and pharmaceuticals.
