Amazon’s decision to move Prime Day from its traditional July timeframe to late June is reshaping the summer ecommerce calendar. At the same time, Walmart has shifted its Walmart Deals event to run during the same week, creating one of the most competitive promotional periods of the year for online retailers.
Amazon has confirmed that Prime Day 2026 will run from June 23 through June 26. The company is also introducing new Alexa-powered AI shopping features designed to help shoppers discover products, build personalized deal guides, and receive deal alerts, according to an article by Forbes.
Meanwhile, Walmart Deals will run from June 22 through June 28, overlapping almost entirely with Prime Day. Walmart+ members will receive early access to selected promotions, while the retailer is positioning the event around summer shopping and back-to-school purchasing, according to a Walmart news post.
For ecommerce sellers, the overlap means consumers will have more options and more promotions competing for attention during the same week. Brands selling on Amazon, Walmart Marketplace, or both platforms may see increased demand, but they may also face greater competition on pricing, advertising, and inventory availability.
Sellers should review inventory forecasts, promotional calendars, and fulfillment capacity well before the events begin. Businesses operating across multiple sales channels may also benefit from monitoring inventory levels closely to avoid overselling during periods of heightened demand.
As major marketplaces continue to expand and coordinate large-scale sales events, operational readiness is becoming increasingly important. Ecommerce businesses that maintain accurate inventory visibility and streamlined fulfillment processes will be better positioned to capitalize on peak demand while maintaining a positive customer experience.
