Starting in March, the French leader in delivery of furniture and bulky products, Girard Agediss, will use route optimization solution from Descartes Systems Group to ensure home deliveries to the customers of the Swedish furniture company.

Girard Agediss is one of the big winners of the call for tenders announced by IKEA to reorganize its logistics to get closer to its French customer base. The transport company was in fact retained by the Swedish brand to ensure home deliveries, but also to handle furniture assembly and returns, from the dedicated warehouse in Châtres.

An improved customer experience

To automate the organization of home deliveries, Girard Agediss has chosen to implement the WinRoute solution from software supplier Descartes. This will allow Girard Agediss to build and optimize their delivery plans to fulfill their commitment to their customers. The key: delivery schedules are created in a few minutes, with a better truck fill rate and optimized vehicle mileage combined with a reduction in fuel emissions as CO2, a major concern for the IKEA Group.

"This collaboration between Girard Agediss and Descartes marks the first step in a growing partnership with the launch of innovative solutions to further improve the customer experience" testifies Nicolas Tellier, President of Girard Agediss.
