Descartes has acquired CORE Transport Technologies (CORE), an electronic transportation network that provides global air carriers and ground handlers with shipment scanning and tracking solutions.
Customers use CORE’s network to accurately track both international mail, parcel and cargo shipments as well as US domestic mail and parcel shipments. CORE’s solutions leverage mobile technologies and data analytics to help customers automate processes and increase operational efficiency.
Descartes’ strategy is focused on growing and operating the most complete and interoperable global Logistics Technology Platform. Descartes’ Logistics Technology Platform uniquely combines the Global Logistics Network (GLN), a wide range of modular and interoperable logistics applications and the largest community of logistics-intensive companies in the world. The acquisition advances Descartes’ strategic objective to strengthen its global presence and leadership position by:
- Expands Descartes’ network reach and concentration with the air community adding new data sources and e-commerce processes;
- Extends Descartes’ application footprint for air carriers and ground handlers with additional real-time tracking solutions;
- Strengthens Descartes’ community of air carriers and ground handlers; and
- Adds incremental mail/parcel and cargo transactions that will generate additional shipment content.
Extending Descartes’ Global Logistics Network
Descartes’ GLN is the foundation on which the applications and community are built. The GLN provides community members the flexibility to easily connect and collaborate with global trading partners. The CORE acquisition expands the reach and concentration of the GLN with air carriers and ground handlers adding new data sources and e-commerce processes.
Enhancing Descartes’ offering of logistics management applications
Descartes’ product strategy is focused on expanding its logistics application functional footprint to provide its customers with the most comprehensive logistics management solutions in the industry. The CORE acquisition extends Descartes’ application footprint with additional mail/parcel scanning and tracking solutions. CORE also brings new air tracking solutions to the Descartes Global Air Messaging Gateway that will enhance real-time tracking and visibility of air shipments.

Descartes’ logistics community is the largest multimodal network of logistics-intensive companies in the world, with parties using its cloud-based services in over 160 countries. The acquisition strengthens Descartes’ global air community of air carriers and ground handlers.
Expanding Descartes’ logistics trade data content
Descartes’ leading platform combines regulatory trade data and logistics trade data to improve market research, reduce the risk of transacting with denied or restricted parties, perform shipment classification and valuation to minimize duty spend, and improve shipment planning and execution. The CORE acquisition will help generate additional mail/parcel and air cargo shipment data content.
