Descartes has acquired Aljex Software, Inc., a cloud-based provider of back-office transportation management solutions for freight brokers and transportation providers.

US-based Aljex helps freight brokers and transportation providers automate business processes and create electronic documents critical for executing transportation moves. Customers can manage the lifecycle of a shipment from order creation through execution, including real-time tracking with connectivity to the Descartes MacroPoint network.

Descartes’ strategy is focused on growing and operating the most complete and interoperable global Logistics Technology Platform. Descartes’ Logistics Technology Platform uniquely combines the Global Logistics Network (GLN), a wide range of modular and interoperable logistics applications and the largest community of logistics-intensive companies in the world. The acquisition advances Descartes’ strategic objective to strengthen its global presence and leadership position by:

  • Adds scale to Descartes’ network with additional transactions related capacity planning, rating, booking, and settlement message parties & processes;
  • Expands Descartes’ application footprint for freight brokers to better manage the lifecycle of shipments;
  • Strengthens Descartes’ community of North American freight brokers; and
  • Provides additional truck shipment data content.

The Aljex acquisition will help generate additional truck shipment data content.
