Descartes has acquired Oz Development, Inc. (“Oz”), a leading US-based provider of application integration solutions that help small-to-medium sized businesses (“SMBs”) automate a number of logistics and supply chain processes.

Descartes’ strategy is focused on growing and operating the most complete and interoperable global Logistics Technology Platform. Descartes’ Logistics Technology Platform uniquely combines the Global Logistics Network (GLN), a wide range of modular and interoperable logistics applications and the largest community of logistics-intensive companies in the world. The acquisition advances Descartes’ strategic objective to strengthen its global presence and leadership position by:

  • Extending the reach of Descartes’ network - including greater penetration with key e-commerce parcel delivery systems;
  • Connecting Descartes applications to leading SMB systems (ERP, Accounting, CRM, e-commerce and supply chain) and providing standardized interface adaptors to support common e-commerce fulfilment processes; and
  • Adding a large SMB community of nearly 7,000 end customers.

Extending Descartes’ Global Logistics Network

Descartes’ Global Logistics Network (GLN) is the foundation on which the applications and community are built. The GLN provides community members the flexibility to easily connect and collaborate with global trading partners.  The Oz acquisition will extend Descartes’ network-based services with greater penetration into key e-commerce parcel delivery systems, such as UPS.

Enhancing Descartes’ offering of logistics management applications

Descartes’ product strategy is focused on expanding its logistics application functional footprint to provide its customers with the most comprehensive logistics management solutions in the industry.  Oz has been building its community and solutions for over 10 years. The acquisition will help connect Descartes applications to leading SMB systems (ERP, Accounting, CRM, e-commerce and supply chain) and provide standardized interface adaptors to support common e-commerce fulfilment processes.

Growing Descartes’ global multimodal logistics community
