Walmart reported another quarter of strong ecommerce growth, highlighting continued consumer demand for convenient digital shopping and creating opportunities for marketplace sellers.

In its fiscal second quarter, Walmart’s global ecommerce sales increased 23% year over year, while Walmart US ecommerce sales grew 24%. The company said global ecommerce growth was led by store-fulfilled pickup and delivery and its marketplace business. Walmart US Marketplace sales increased 52% during the quarter.

The digital gains came as Walmart reported quarterly revenue of $187.9 billion, up 5.9% from the previous year. In the US, store-fulfilled delivery grew approximately 43%, while expedited deliveries of under three hours represented about 37% of store-fulfilled orders.

For ecommerce sellers, Walmart’s results provide another indication that consumers continue to embrace online marketplaces and faster fulfillment options. Growing marketplace sales may give sellers more opportunities to reach customers beyond their existing sales channels.

Sellers can prepare for continued ecommerce growth by maintaining accurate inventory across channels, keeping product listings current, and ensuring fulfillment operations can scale as order volumes increase. Connecting inventory, orders, and fulfillment can also help businesses expand to additional marketplaces without adding unnecessary operational complexity.
