CPGIO describes itself as a ‘one-stop shop for ecommerce,’ providing distribution, third-party logistics, and marketing to hundreds of brands. The business grew exponentially in the 2010s as they reached out to brands, started direct partnerships, and moved to a 150,000 sq ft warehouse.
The Challenge: Unreliable Reporting and Limited Sales Channels
CPGIO’s previous ecommerce solution was no longer making work more manageable. Not only was it not giving them the data they needed as consistently as they needed it, its reporting features were not working properly, producing duplicates and unnecessary columns.
Another significant limitation CPGIO faced was adding additional sales channels. CPGIO was handling multiple clients working on multiple channels, and they also could not trace changes made to their listing from different users, leading to all sorts of confusion. Their previous solution wasn’t cloud-based either, meaning it could not be accessed from different machines in sync with each other, and it was expensive per transaction.

We can set up multiple different warehouses very easily, by ourselves, without even any help. So, that has made it a lot easier to segment different 3PL customers and projects.”

The Solution: Software to Centralize All Their Operations

CPGIO was impressed with how quickly they could integrate many new marketplaces, and it was one of the first businesses to integrate TikTok Shop as part of Descartes Sellercloud’s early adoption and partnership. Since then, it has become one of their fastest-growing channels. On top of that, CPGIO has been able to add new Walmart Marketplace accounts for some of their clients’ brands and utilize Amazon Vendor Central and Direct Fulfillment integrations to scale their automation capabilities, enabling them to offer additional services to their clients.
However, what really made a difference to CPGIO was Descartes Sellercloud’s order management features. CPGIO uses the solution to connect all its sales channels and fulfill all its orders. Leckron tells us how Descartes Sellercloud’s open API helps make this even easier. CPGIO could now get data where it needed to go, automating processes and enabling them to make informed decisions.

Being able to customize Descartes Sellercloud meant CPGIO could take its pricing strategy to a genius new level. They were able to set up a custom repricer in Descartes Sellercloud that could take into account other variables related to their business. “Essentially it adds in different fees such as packaging and labor and calculates that net cost. That then gets sent to our repricer to kind of help us stay competitive against different sellers on Amazon,” explained Sharon Leckron, Senior Vice President of Channel Development of CPGIO.
Another key feature that has enabled CPGIO to take automation to another level is the Order Rule Engine, which allows them to set up rules for specific actions. It has been particularly helpful for fraud prevention. CPGIO also uses the Order Rule Engine for third-party shipping and billing to automatically add whatever information is needed.

“We have been able to get data a lot faster and a lot more accurately than our previous system. I like seeing the visibility into the changelog,” said Leckron.
